3 Questions for… Timo Läderach, Bartender
Timo, 26 years old, Bartender, Hotel Murten, Murten
In the year 2016, Timo was searching for his dream bartending job in Switzerland. But, without professional experience, he was unable to land a position in places that truly excited him.
Timo flew out to Miami where he knew the cocktail scene was booming and got trained up by industry experts in just 4 weeks at an International Bartender Course of European Bartender School. These instructors quickly became his friends and at the end of the course, having witnessed his passion and potential, they encouraged him to become one of the pack.
Since then, Timo has been all over the globe, having “the best time of his life” and feeling like he’s “doing the course on repeat”. He finds it extremely fulfilling to watch the students’ evolution over 4 weeks of intensive training and loves to see the shyest of the group come out of their shells as the cohort knits together to become one friendly community. Today Timo is tending the bar at Hotel Murten, which is one of the top 5 hotel bars in Switzerland.
Name the coolest location where you ever mixed a drink.
Working with Generous Gin I’ve been lucky enough to visit lots of cool cities and exploring their best bars. We recently had a event in Ceresio 7 in milano where I jumped behind the bar to make a few drinks – the location is absolutely stunning.
What is your favourite drink to mix and which drink do you like best?
I love to make Espresso Martinis, challenge myself every time to pour so accurate that I can fine strain up to the very top of the glass but not overload.
What is more important in your job: being the creative head or a “show star”?
Personally I think a decent drink with a great vibe goes over some kind of “clarified oyster bloody mary over the top” kind of mixology cocktail in a boring bar. Cheers.
